HEALTH & LIFE SCIENCES HERO

International Health & Life Sciences Day

26 JUNE 2018

Spending on global healthcare is expected to reach $8.7 trillion by 2020. How can your business help pioneer new approaches to global challenges like infectious disease or an ageing population?

In partnership with the Centre of Excellence in Infectious Diseases Research (CEIDR), the 2018 International Business Festival’s Health and Life Sciences Day will celebrate life-changing advances in the science of infection, investigate how technology is giving greater access in health and augmenting humans, and explore how business and the health sector are working together to create change.

We’ll explore how to find stability and opportunity in a changing world and showcase international market opportunities. You’ll meet with future partners, buyers and investors and develop profitable, meaningful relationships.

Embracing a more ambitious ‘moonshot’ mindset could be the best way to bring forth revolutionary advances in health and life science, potentially curing cancer or forever killing infectious disease.

Oxford University scientist Sir John Bell, who authored the paper on how to boost Britain’s £64bn life sciences sector, has called for public sector investment in high-risk moonshot programmes to create two to three entirely new health and life science industries over the next 10 years.

Moonshot thinking has already spawned many powerful new initiatives, leading a charge to bring about a revolutionary change to the world of medicine, urging the industry to make bold giant leaps rather than safe incremental steps.

Here, our expert keynote speaker will examine why the stellar work of saving lives must take on a more intrepid, even audacious stance to reap more radical rewards.

This challenging but critical session will make you see the health and life science sector in a whole new light and encourage the industry to reach for the stars.
