GLOBAL LOGISTICS & SHIPPING HERO

Global Logistics and Shipping Day

21 JUNE 2018

Business, at its very core, is all about supply and demand, and demands have changed.

In a digital age consumers and retailers want a wider variety of goods, faster, with greater ease and of a higher quality than ever before. The global logistics and shipping industry is working hard to meet or even exceed these demands.

Planes, trains, cars and ships are swiftly starting to shift gear and turn autonomous. Pizza is arriving in people’s homes via drone, and the Internet of Things (IoT) is connecting commerce and sharing resources to consolidate and exchange data in a far superior way.

Logistics and shipping no longer simply involve getting things from A-B. They are central to business and play ever-increasing roles in satisfying consumer expectations, by land, sea or air. This day helped delegates see this dynamic sector in a totally new light.

The event examined how to secure stability and opportunity in a changing world and showcased international market opportunities. Delegates met with future partners, buyers and investors and worked to develop profitable, meaningful relationships.

Chris will bring a scholarly and philosophical slant to proceedings, but with a keen eye on the lessons we can learn today from the greatest period of human history. Global logistics and shipping has never sounded so good.

The world is at a cross-road. One road leads to AI utopia. Advanced technology is freeing the planet from mundane, repetitive jobs. It’s reinvigorating industries, establishing new ones, and helping us achieve the unimaginable, setting mankind on a course for unbound greatness and prosperity.

The other is much darker. The needs of corporations and shareholders have totally replaced the needs of people. Unregulated AI use is further widening the gulf between the ultra-rich and the poverty-stricken poor. People feel usurped, replaced and useless, believing their way of life has been decimated by tech that can do things better, faster and smarter than they ever could.

Philip Jennings is an authority on the rights of the global workforce and his singular insight has recently garnered him an appointed to join the ILO Commission on the Future World of Work.

Here, he’ll reveal how today's decision-makers hold the key to a sustainable, empowering future, calling for ethical AI and social justice. Phillip will present a compelling strategy to ensure working men and women retain a vital place in the world, examining the steps we need to take to ensure mankind stays on the right path.
